Pacers’ Obi Toppin leaves after suffering a sprained ankle against Thunder

Pacers forward Obi Toppin suffered a sprained left ankle in the first quarter of Indiana’s home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night and will not return.

Toppin was injured when he slipped while trying to pull up for an elbow jumper at 8:22 into the match. He staggered to the sideline before falling to the ground in pain and having to be helped to the locker room.

Toppin briefly returned to the court midway through the second quarter, but the Pacers ruled him out for the remainder of the game a short time later.

Entering Thursday, the 26-year-old Toppin is averaging 10.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29 games off the bench for Indiana (15-15) this season.
